Well, my favorite way to get rid of skunk smell on a dog is to use:
Massengill Douche.
This will also get rid of cat 'spray' smells. For those of you that are faint of heart, and unlike me are unwilling to go to Meijers at 3 am and buy a case of Massengill and a six pack of beer (smelling slightly of skunk), here is another recipe:
1 quart hydrogen peroxide
1/4 cup baking soda
1 Tablespoon liquid dish soap
Mix all and place on where the skunk sprayed, being careful not to get this mixture into the dogs eyes. DO NOT place this in a closed container, as the mixture of peroxide and soda produces a gas that will explode the container.
With both of these remidies, the sooner you get it on the dog the better it works, so keep some on hand 'just in case'.
